Anglepoise Desk Lamps by Herbert Terry

The Art Deco Lighting Company stocks a diverse range of striking Anglepoise desk lamps that will add a contemporary edge to any workspace.

The instantly-recognisable design of the Anglepoise desk lamp was originally inspired by the anatomy of the human arm. The very first Anglepoise was developed in 1932 by George Carwardine, and the design was later licensed to Herbert Terry & Sons, the Redditch-based company that were renowned for manufacturing the most famous Anglepoise models, including the popular 1227.

Anglepoise lamps can be manoeuvred into any position with ease, and their unique, tulip-shaped shade makes better use of light. Unsurprisingly, domestic and commercial customers alike were blown away by the practicality and eye-catching aesthetics of these lights when they were first released, and they continue to be a popular choice amongst our customers more than 80 years after the unique helical spring at the core of each of these lamps was originally patented.

Please bear in mind that all of the Anglepoise desk lamps listed here are true originals. These items have been restored to a very high standard, and they should not be confused with the cheaper offerings available in today’s market.

Whilst we have taken every care to ensure they are in excellent condition when they leave our workshop, they will not be factory perfect due to their age. You could argue, however, that any small flaws only add to their character and serve as a constant reminder of the Anglepoise’s iconic status.
